Alastair Campbell likes Hannah Montana !?

Lee

Campbell

Alastair Campbell made a school boy error today by accidentally leaving his Facebook logged in and open for his daughter to tinker with. Now as a student we do this to each other all the time. To see this happen to someone as professional and as well known as Mr Campbell is much more humorous. Although credit to him, he did act rather swiftly to delete and correct the error however not quick enough to avoid a screen shot. Unlucky Alastair, I suggest logging out or locking your computer next time.

Maybe you should also get your daughter to proof read those frantically quick typed status updates.

This months…

Lee

‘This months’ is going to be a recurring post. Every month I’m going to share my current favourite, album, book, website and film etc

This months music is a self titled album by the band Civil Twilight. Civil Twilight are a South African rock band. After moving to America they recorded and released their debut self titled album early this year. I first found the band after hearing one of their songs called ‘Letters From the Sky‘ on the TV programme Harper’s Island. They are mostly unknown this side of the Atlantic but you can find their album on iTunes. I like this band because they have a relaxing mellow sound to them that just chills me out completely. They certainly are worth a listen, check out their website and myspace.

This months book, which I’ve yet to finish reading is a 2002 novel by Alice Sebold ‘The Lovely Bones’. Its a dark story about a murdered teenage girl that sees her family struggle from heaven whilst she has to come to terms with her own death. It is a truly unique and interesting story. I heard about this book when news stories announced Peter Jackson was making a film adaptation. I got my cheap and cheerful copy from play.com.

And the film of the month is recently released District 9. Unknown actors, fantastic story line about aliens and humans co-existing, not set in America, not really a happy ending and directed by Peter Jackson… its just brilliant. The film takes on a different approach making us humans look like the bad guys, there is a lot of underlining messages about modern politics you can take from this film but I’ll pass on explaining that wonderful mess.

And finally a nifty photo editing website for you to try http://www.befunky.com So thats it until next month folks… chiao.

My Working Music

Lee
So my first new proper post, well actually its an old one but it still applys. I find learning about people is easier when we learn about what they like, so this is my working music top six.

6 Daughtry – Daughtry. A great album to listen to when working. When there is no need to rush, taking it easy with no need to concentrate too hard, then the rock ‘n’ roll guitar lines and the melodic breakdowns are a great mixup.

5  Dire Straits – Private Investigations. Working late, pace slowing down? Well a cup of tea and a few tracks from this album help me keep a steady pace, without getting distracted too much. It’s a nice way to finish off the evening work before going off to bed.

4 Coldplay – Parachutes. A great blend of relaxing vocals for an early morning start. Not the greatest to actually work with but good to wake up to and get in gear. Also goes well with Coldplay songs on the Radio 1 live lounge.

3 Twilight – Original Soundtrack. One of my favorite albums. This album jumps from atmospheric music to powerful main stream guitar riffs. When having trouble concentrating for long periods this album gives a good broad spectrum of interesting sounds to adjust to.

2 David Gray – White Ladder. This is great album to pace yourself with for many hours of work. Working constantly requires a relaxed and clam workspace, with this album playing quietly in the background it does help keep a sense of calmness minimizing stress.

1 Battlestar Galactica – OST (Seasons Two & Three). The songs on these two albums are amazing. They bring atmospheric music to its absolute best. They have a great mix from quiet calm tunes to more epic drum based songs. These albums are excellent to play throughout the day, they change in emphasis so often that an intense long day of working is made that little bit more bearable. Conducted and produced by one of my favorite musical talents Bear McCreary.

This is my workspace soundtrack, quite the variety, however when working variety is needed else the mind wonders. Music defines how I work, maybe you don’t like playing music maybe you do, its all dependant on you…
